Statement of Inclusion

PVTC is committed to creating an artistic space where all feel welcome, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, creed, disability, financial circumstance, gender identity, or sexual orientation. We acknowledge the historical biases that have left marginalized communities out and recognize that equity can only be fully achieved by addressing these biases. We strive to uplift and promote all communities in our artistic endeavors.

Land Acknowledgement

Portola Valley is located on traditional Ohlone lands. We recognize the cultural heritage and traditions of those indigenous to this place.

Inclusivity at PVTC

At PVTC we aim to foster a culture of care and respect for all individuals. To create the most welcoming space for everyone, we’ve doubled down on our I.D.E.A. (inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility) initiatives, working to make PVTC a better program.

In 2020, PVTC formed an I.D.E.A. committee, composed of board members and staff. We meet monthly to discuss how to expand our programming and how to welcome more students, artists, and patrons of diverse backgrounds to our campus.

Now we want to hear from YOU!

To gain a greater sense of our current community, we have created a survey. Our goals are two-fold:

  1. to be able to fully understand the demographics of who we currently serve and

  2. to work toward incorporating more students, families, artists, and stories of diverse backgrounds into our community.

This anonymous survey is the first step to see where we are and to measure our progress as we continue to work to make all feel welcome and all voices heard.

We want everyone to participate: students, parents, interns, board members, audience members, donors, teaching artists, production staff, and volunteers. Please encourage all members of your household who have ever set foot on the PVTC campus to respond!

We will report back on our findings later this fall.

We truly appreciate you taking 2 minutes to help us in this endeavor.

The IDEA committee is composed of PVTC board members & staff with input from an EDI consultant. Interested in joining the conversation? Have questions or comments for PVTC?
