Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory (PVTC) creates community and inspires individuals to discover their unique passion through pursuit of excellence in theatre arts. We realize our mission through after school classes, outreach in schools, leadership opportunities for high school and college students, MainStage productions, and special events. Our programs reach over 3,000 students, interns, artists, and audience members throughout the Peninsula annually.

Our scholarships ensure all families in our community can access meaningful arts experiences, regardless of financial circumstances.

We believe in learning and creating across the lifespan! Our most recent summer camp, Shrek Jr., included students ages four to eighteen, and our mainstage productions have historically given youth the opportunity to learn and perform alongside adults as old as mid-90s.

PVTC engages historically underserved communities in the magic of theatre. Partnerships with All Five, an equity-focused early childhood education program, Open Mind School, an inclusive tK-12 school, and Branch Services, a combination day program and residential community for adults with disabilities, ensure the impact of our work is felt well beyond our campus.

Our reputation attracts accomplished guest artists & staff who travel from around the Bay Area to share their skills with our community.

Through our Youth Council, high-school internship, and college staff programs, teens and young adults get the opportunity to mentor younger artists, lead their peers, and step into the world of professional theatre-making.

Traditional theater can be exclusionary. That’s why PVTC provides sensory-friendly versions of all of our shows, specifically designed to include community members with disabilities, elderly folks, and families with very young children.
The true cost of all these programs that teach empathy, leadership, and creative problem-solving in a supportive and collaborative environment should be about $1.5 million annually, but PVTC survives on a scant $500k.
