PVTC’s summer camps inspire creativity, create connections, and spark lifelong passion for the arts. Campers explore acting and theatre design in a supportive, fun, challenging environment that is full of laughter and imagination.
ABOUT BROADWAY DREAMS
When you’re cast in a musical, you don’t always get the opportunity to sing the song you want or dance in the biggest dance numbers. Heck, sometimes your favorite shows aren’t even ones that your theatres choose to produce. Now’s the time to dig in with material you’d love to do!
Camp will be made up of three rotations: Solo Songs, Dynamic Dances, and Musical Moments.
Solo Songs: In this rotation, each performer will have the chance to work on a full production number from a favorite Broadway musical, chosen with the help of PVTC staff. Each student will receive individual vocal coaching on their piece as well as coaching for “acting the song,” which includes simple staging. Additionally, actors will meet with a designer to create a basic costume look for their character. Actors will be provided with sheet music and a piano accompaniment version of their song, so it can be used at future auditions, talent shows, or even family gatherings! Don’t think of yourself as a singer? No problem! We’ll help you “fake it ‘til you make it” and “sell” your song to an audience.
Dynamic Dances: We will focus on famous choreographic moments throughout musical theatre history and learn iconic steps from famous shows. This rotation will focus on a combination of musical theatre dance technique, styles of musical theatre dance, and performing a dance number successfully.
Musical Moments: In this class, students will get to gab about musicals! We’ll watch clips of awesome shows, talk about the evolution of musicals, and share favorite musical moments. There will also be some opportunities to make simple projects or write some lyrics in the style of a musical.
There is a large age span for this camp so actors will be divided by like-aged campers: entering 3rd-5th together, 6th-8th together, and entering 9th-recently graduated 12th together.

There is no audition for this camp, but campers are asked to send in a short video containing the following:
An introduction: Tell us your name, your pronouns, and your three favorite musicals.
30 seconds of a song: Pick a song from a musical you love that’s in your vocal range. Sing along to a karaoke track (there are lots of free options on YouTube). Be sure to choose a track that doesn’t have someone else’s voice on it so we can hear you! Have fun acting as you go.
*Weekly Charitable Contribution Request -Support Teaching Artists & Scholarship Students:
We request families who are able to contribute an additional $200/week per camper.
Tuition does not cover all camp-related expenses. These valuable tax-deductible donations allow PVTC to offer a livable wage to the teaching artists who pour their energy and passion into campers. Returning families will know the importance of the connection between PVTC staff members and students/interns who form positive lasting relationships through the years. Teaching artists are committed to developing artists and individuals and give extra care to each student to inspire and guide them. They are the heart of PVTC. Help us support these artists in the incredible work they do.
Further, PVTC is committed to offering programming to all students regardless of financial need. Tax-deductible contributions ensure we can keep theatre accessible.

PVTC recognizes that families may be cautious to sign up for summer programming given the unknowns of the times. Some families may be comfortable only with an online camp experience while others may want to participate only in-person. In an effort to be flexible with families’ needs, PVTC has updated our refund policy for 2021 as follows:
If you plan to participate in camp no matter what, you can pay in full or choose a payment plan at the time of registration.
If you are waiting to learn which platform PVTC will be using for camp this year, the process is as follows:
A $100 non-refundable deposit holds your place in camp at the time of registration.
On April 23rd 2021 PVTC will announce the location of camps (online, in-person, or hybrid).
By April 30th families will need to state their intent to participate in camp.
On April 30th 50% of tuition payment is due.
On May 28th the remaining tuition balance is due.

50% of tuition is non-refundable after May 14th.
