THEATRE CLASSES

 

 

 

 

Level I - Lights up!  Do you like using your imagination? Can you say “You know you need unique New York” five times fast without tripping over your tongue? Do you want to learn theatre through games with fun names like Magic Rock, Sneaky Statues, Bippity-Bippity Bop, Quizzle, and Expert? Then Lights Up! classes are for you!

 

Learn the FUNdamentals of acting through these playfully creative classes, designed especially for our youngest artists and those new to theatre.

Level II- STAGES is our intensive training program designed for students who have demonstrated a true passion for theatre and wish to enter into a more challenging, comprehensive training program. 

 

Time Commitment - 32 weeks in the school year.  Starting in the 2014-2015 school year, STAGES students are asked to commit to their ensemble for the full school year so that the actor and teaching artist can spend more quality time developing strong skills that will result in a more complete rehearsal process and a more polished performance.

Level III- To meet the growing demands of our students, we now offer Performance Ensembles, which allow dedicated and gifted students to tackle large projects as an ensemble. 

 

There is a full-year commitment to these groups to maximize experiences in theatre. Performance Ensembles will meet on Tuesdays. Please refer to the calendar for specific meeting dates.

General Information about Society of Young Inkings

Society of Young Inklings, a partner of PVTC, uses time-tested methodology, which blends theatrical techniques and games that address multiple learning styles to inspire and challenge writers based on their individual needs and skill level. Group instruction during each session deepens students' understanding of character development. During writing time, instructors circulate to individualize the learning process for each student.

At PVTC, we believe that theatre does remarkable things for each individual child. We are committed to helping every student realize their full creative potential. We celebrate diversity and offer classes to all children without exception. To that end, we have three after-school training programs that serve children of all abilities and levels of interests.

Late Fee & Refund Policies for Year-Round Classes

 

1) Payment:You must pay for class at the time of registration. Students who have not paid by the first class will not be admitted into the classroom.

 

2) Refunds: $25 of payment for class is non-refundable. There are no refunds after the first week of class. If you drop a class by the end of the first week, you may choose to receive a refund by check or as credit towards a future class. We are not set up to issue refunds by credit card.

 

3) Late Registration: If you would like to register after the first day of a class, you may do so up until the second class meeting. After the second class meeting, we cannot add students since the script is being developed. We do not pro-rate classes that are added late.

 

4) We understand that some of our younger artists may be hesitant about trying a theatre class. If you have a young student and wish to test a class, please feel free to call the theatre office at (650) 851-8282 ext. 105 to make arrangements for a trial class before formally registering online.

 

Scholarships

PVTC offers a limited amount of need-based scholarships for our after school classes and vacation camps. Please email info@pvtc-ca.org for more information.
