About the show...
Inspired by the ancient myth of the mother-daughter journey and the cycle of the seasons, this interdisciplinary production combines dance, poetry, theatre, and puppetry to create a simultaneously unique and timeless world. With new music ranging from jazz, to folksy bluegrass, to hip-hop and spoken word, the ensemble-devised piece weaves a well-told story of love, loss, betrayal, and, ultimately, reconciliation.
Recommended for adults and children in grades 4+.
Show run is now over. We thank all those who participated and attended the show, see you in Spring!
The Diviners by Jim Leonard, Jr.
A challenged boy. A divine gift. God's gonna trouble the waters.
March 13-23, 2014
Set during the Depression, "The Diviners" is the story of 14-year-old Buddy Layman, a troubled boy who also has a gift: Buddy can divine water. But he is also deathly afraid of it. Haunting and beautiful, this powerful play has echoes of "Our Town" and "Of Mice and Men" but is definitely a fresh face that will have you laughing one minute, crying the next. Gorgeous gospel/spiritual-style music richly underscores the production.
