THEATRE CLASSES

Join us for in-person classes this winter!

Out of an abundance of caution, our COVID committee has recommended that we postpone the start of winter theatre classes by three weeks.

Our winter session will start the week of January 31st

Winter 2022

This winter, PVTC is pleased to offer a selection of in-person theatre courses that inspire conversations, create connections, and breed a sense of compassion.

Theme winter session: Tale as Old as Time

Stories transcend time. We pass them down through generations. They may evolve or take new shapes, but stories entertain us, inspire us, and help us make sense of the world. Pretty much every play starts with a story. This winter at PVTC, we will turn fables, folktales, and other classic stories that are familiar to us upside down and explore them with new lenses and twists. Take the stage to be part of the story!

COVID Precautions - Classes will be held indoors, masks will be worn regardless of vaccination status, all families will be asked to complete a health check prior to class, students will receive a temperature check upon arrival, and social distancing will be practiced during class.

Campus Location - Classes will be held on campus at 945 Portola Road in Portola Valley..

No Class:

Monday 1/17 (MLK Day) or 2/21 (President’s Day); Tuesday 2/22 (President’s Day)

Monday March 28th -Thursday Mach 31st (Spring Break)

Perspectives Taking

Many performers love acting because it gives them permission to step into someone else’s shoes and understand a situation from a new vantage point. This acting class invites you to do just that: take a deep-dive into empathy and truly experience the perspectives of people different from us. As part of the exploration, you will work in small groups to create original plays that explore a perspective radically different from their your and thereby take on challenging and meaningful acting roles. There may be a small share-out for an audience the final day of the session, depending on the desires of the class.
