Society of Young Inklings, a partner of PVTC, uses time-tested methodology, which blends theatrical techniques and games that address multiple learning styles to inspire and challenge writers based on their individual needs and skill level. Group instruction during each session deepens students' understanding of character development. During writing time, instructors circulate to individualize the learning process for each student.
Choose Your Own Adventure (2nd-3rd grade, $235)
Wednesday 3:30-4:30
Dream up a twisty-turny plot that allows the reader to choose the final outcome of your story! In this active workshop, students will develop an adventure story with multiple endings through improvisational games and creative activities. In the process, students will develop their overall writing skills, and specifically learn to craft a plot with excellent pacing, realistic cause and effect, and strong conflict and resolution.
Launch Your Novel (4th-8th grade, $235)
Wednesday 4:30-5:30
This workshop is aimed at young writers who are ready for a new challenge. We guide students through the key phases of the drafting process-including character, setting and plot development By the end of class, students will have a plan for a 40-100-page novel and at least two chapters.
